Job Details

The Supervisor, Crew Scheduling is responsible for overseeing and assisting with the day to day operational functions of crew scheduling, assuring that all flights are properly crewed and that legal issues are satisfied prior to departure of any Porter flight.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 


  • Supervise Crew Scheduling department to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (FOAG) and government regulations (CARs)

  • Provide supervision, guidance and leadership to the Crew Schedulers.  Support the contribution of all schedulers as required.

  • Support the operation during irregular operations (IROPs) and effectively communicate IROPSs impact on crew scheduling to the Duty Officer

  • Responsible for all ‘month of’ changes from the aircraft scheduling department and various other departments within Flight Ops

  • Oversee ‘month of’ execution of pilot line training plan and make adjustments to the training plan as necessary

  • Monitor, develop, and follow up on book-off and CTT reports

  • Provide accurate, timely, constructive feedback and coaching to crew schedulers

  • Supervise the work performance of crew schedulers.  Conduct performance related meetings and apply disciplinary action as required

  • Represent Crewing at Operations meetings when required

  • Conduct recruitment interviews for crew schedulers

  • Responsible for training new crew schedulers and communication of rule changes pertaining to scheduling

  • Conduct quarterly crew scheduler meetings

  • Provide feedback on performance issues to the Manager, Crew Scheduling

  • Perform Flight Crew payroll submission and crew dispute resolution

  • Investigate and resolve crew inquiries and complaints

  • Daily communication with other shift supervisors and department managers as needed

  • Prepare and update the crew scheduling staff monthly schedule.  Prepare and update crew schedulers vacation and sick accruals  Ensure all crew scheduling shifts are staffed

  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operation;  understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

  • Other Duties as assigned by the Manager, Crew Scheduling

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Crew Scheduler/Planner

  • Knowledge of N-OC

  • Knowledge of CARs crewing regulations

  • Works well under pressure, performs and coordinates multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Able to identify problems, their sources and the potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption

  • A strong understanding of systems thinking (ie both realizing that one piece of an organization has an impact on other components of the organization and navigating that impact successfully)

  • Advanced computer skills

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, shift work and overtime if necessary

  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written and the ability to uphold professional demeanor while maintaining assertiveness

  • Dependability

  • Energetic, self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Proven track record of supervising a team of employees
