Job Description

FUNCTION: 

 

Reporting to the Manager of Technology Quality Assurance, this position will deal with our customer facing, and operational internal applications; as well as airline system upgrades, from conception to post production. As an integral part of our growing team, you will support Porter’s rapidly growing business environment through technology by ensuring that Porter applications are defect free and exceed our customer and end-user experience.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze business requirements for customer facing, and operational internal applications.  Working directly with business users and technology teams to understand/review requirements, enhancements, and bug fixes.  

  • Review, prepare, and participate in airline system upgrades.  Working directly with the technology team to ensure smooth implementation, and minimize impact to end users.

  • Evaluate test plans of a wide variety of porter applications.  Ensuring  summary of business requirements and creation of execution test suites meet QA standards.  

  • Perform full review of test cases.  Ensuring testing coverage exists for applications under test when new features or enhancements are added.

  • Coordinate manual functional, system, Integration, and Usability testing on customer facing applications.  Making sure it meets compatibility with a variety of web browsers and mobile devices.

  • Accessibility testing of customer facing websites in order to make sure it meets WCAG 2.0 compliance.

  • Execute functional, and system integration testing on operational internal applications.  Ensuring that all applications integrate properly with other systems

  • Perform review of defects, and verifying root cause of  issues have been fixed during regression testing. 

  • Perform review of automated test suites using a combination of scripts, off-the-shelf test tools and custom programming

  • Audit project documentation, making sure it supports development of QA material.

  • Provide QA status updates.  Communicating with business sponsors, and other involved departments to help determine if we are meeting timelines.

  • Maintain and update advanced internal QA applications.  Adding new functionality to QA toolkit to support automation framework.

  • Post production support in reproducing and finding root cause of incident reported.

  • Support and oversee junior team members are following QA standards and processes.

  • Provide after hour support for Sev 1, and Sev 2 production issues, as well as overnight system upgrades.  Helping troubleshoot and test systems once changes/fixes  have been completed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ISTQB Foundation level certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering (or equivalent) preferred

  • 5 –7 years of Quality Assurance and testing experience in a system and software development environment, including testing web, desktop, and database applications

  • 3 year experience with automated testing tools including creating, maintaining test scripts.  Strong knowledge of different automation frameworks.

  • 3 year of database design in SQL Server 2012, SQL/T-SQL , database indexing, views and executing scripts.

  • Experience with different SDLC methodologies, and QA role in delivering a quality product.

  • Strong .NET software development skills (C#), Visual Studio 2015

  • Excellent understanding API, Web service, console application, and windows services.  As well as testing techniques and tools to support the QA cycle.

  • Excellent knowledge of web content accessibility guidelines, and screen reader tools. 

  • Experience using test case, Bug Tracking, and other QA tools (qTest, Jira, etc).  

  • Superior analysis and problem solving skills

  • Clearly articulate ideas and thoughts verbally

  • Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
