Job Details

Porter is embarking on a multi-year expansion across North America, with a new fleet of aircraft, and a growing route network. To support the organization with its expansion plans, the Uniform team is hiring for a new role, the Manager, Uniforms. 

This role will be responsible for leading the department, including a refresh of its core uniform pieces. In addition to the Refresh Initiative, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the department, including inventory management, internal and external relationship management and negotiations for the department. The ideal candidate will have experience leading within the uniform or fashion industry, preferably with experience supporting an organization through a uniform refresh.  This role is well suited for someone with a passion for fashion, a thorough understanding of business practices and a continuous improvement mindset.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspire, develop, coach and foster a great team culture, both within the department and all team members engaging with the department. 

  • Lead Porter’s Uniform Refresh Initiative 

    • Identify pieces for refresh

    • Source potential vendors

    • Source fabrics and help design new patterns 

    • Lead RFP process

    • Design and manage wear test process 

    • Create new uniform rollout strategy

  • Lead sourcing and negotiation of all uniform pieces and department agreements

  • Develop an efficient inventory management system, ensuring sufficient but not inflated inventory levels

  • Develop reports and presentations to present to senior leadership

  • Manage department budget, including annual budget process 

  • Redesign company uniform standards and create policy framework

  • Manage internal and external stakeholders

  • Develop ESG strategy for department

  • Continually benchmark with other airlines

  • Travel to markets outside of Toronto to visit Porter stations

  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a leadership role

  • Experience working within a uniform department, through a refresh transformation 

  • Inventory management experience 

  • Demonstrated negotiating skills and business acumen 

  • Project management skills 

  • Experience building reports and presentations with PowerPoint and Excel or Google suite

  • A combination of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted

  • Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination
