Job Details

FUNCTION: Reporting to the Director, Safety, this position supports the administration of the Porter Airlines Safety Management System.   

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews safety data for the purpose of extracting patterns predictive of hazards and files regular reports with mandatory data-sharing programs
  • Provides guidance to departmental safety investigators regarding the progress and completion of investigations, analyses, implementation of corrective action, and audit processes
  • Provides administrative support of the SMS reporting system including the tracking of timelines relevant to the treatment of SMS reports
  • Participates in the corporate emergency response program
  • Maintains records of all training offered by the Safety Department
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy
  • Completes other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary academic training in aviation safety management and/or predictive analytics
  • Excellent working knowledge of Transport Canada requirements for a safety management system
  • Familiarity with commercial flight operations and/or aircraft maintenance operations
  • Prior experience in the conduct of investigation, root cause and trend analysis
  • Experience in the development, implementation and promotion of quality management, quality assurance and risk management programs
  • Excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills; keen attention to detail
  • Ability to secure and maintain restricted airport security clearance
  • Must maintain a valid passport and be able to travel when require
  • Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination
