Job Details

FUNCTION: Reporting to the Lead, SOCC, with “day of operation” reporting to the Duty Officer, this position is responsible for working closely with the SOCC and Airports departments, as well as external agencies, to coordinate operational activities across Porter’s entire network. The Station Operations Coordinators, working in conjunction with a Flight Dispatcher, are responsible for the timely dissemination of clear and concise operational information across the organization, particularly during irregular operations. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

  • Encourage a proactive safety culture

  • Understand, demonstrate and role model Porter’s values, while ensuring a commitment to safety and promoting a world-class working environment.

  • Actively monitor the daily flight schedule and maintain awareness of ongoing operational challenges in order to anticipate delays, cancellations and other schedule disruptions

  • Advocate for changes that benefit passenger experience, schedule integrity, and on-time performance

  • Support operational decision making by providing insight into issues of operational context through close coordination with stations, departments, and external agencies

  • Coordinate operational activities across the Porter network and assist with contingency and recovery planning during major irregular operations (IROPs) events

  • Implement changes to the flight schedule through direct manipulation of flights in New Skies programs

  • Under the direction of the SOCC Duty Officer, communicate changes to the flight schedule and operational plan clearly and concisely

  • Coordination of IROPs events, including the provision of passenger transportation, security, and customs for local and remote diversions

  • Responsible to ensure passengers are provided adequate notification of flight disruptions and cancellations to their itinerary through Rebook Pump

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of Company policies and procedures as well as Transport Canada regulations and those of other domestic and international regulatory agencies

  • Provide procedural guidance and routine technical support to front-line agents and coordinate system outage response and transition to manual or backup procedures

  • Process delay reports and participates in the delay code audit and reconciliation process

  • APIS/API reconciliation and communication with the US Department of Homeland Security, CBP and CBSA. Assist with investigation and resolution of DHS violations and API data quality issues to avoid significant fines against the Company

  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead, SOCC, or designate

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2 years in Airport Operations or equivalent experience/education

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at the same time

  • Highly motivated and self-directed with a keen attention to detail

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new situations, problem solve and affect positive change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Able to hold a valid Restricted Area Identification Card

  • Excellent attendance record

  • Airline operational background and appreciable experience with New Skies/Sky Speed and Sabre Movement Control systems is preferred
