FUNCTION:
Are you comfortable looking at billions of records and summarizing the details to a business user? Have you built business intelligence applications and data integration processes to make information available?
The Data Analyst role takes a keen interest in understanding the value of data in our organization and using it to provide better insights and business strategy. The role plays a key role in developing and enhancing the use of data across Porter.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work directly with business groups to identify, define and document requirements for projects
Provide guidance and assistance to business groups on their projects with data analysis
Maintain and support multiple projects, working with the Technology teams, project managers, business groups
Document data definitions, metrics, data structures, and business processes for projects and initiatives
Mentor business users on using the data warehouse effectively
Design and develop reports and dashboards for various business groups
Responsible for analyzing and improving data quality and data integrity in our data warehouse
Participate in defining the data warehouse and data governance principles
Provide occasional support for reports and processes after hours and weekends
Any other duties as requested by the Director of the Data team

QUALIFICATIONS:
Post-secondary degree: Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or similar degree preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to communicate clearly with business users, project teams and project managers
Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
3 + years experience in creating reports, scorecards, dashboards using SSRS, Tableau or similar
2 + years experience with SDLC, requirements gathering and documentation
2 + years experience documenting and maintaining data, metric and KPI definitions
Experience with methodologies and developing business intelligence/data warehousing solutions
Strong SQL experience with various database systems including SQL Server, PostGreSQL, or Redshift
Experience using open source languages such as Python, R, Scala, or similar is an asset
Experience with website analysis tools such as Google Analytics, WebTrends, Adobe Omniture is an asset
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
3 + years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau or similar
3 + years of SQL experience using enterprise and open source databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Redshift
2 + years of experience using Microsoft Office or Google Suite
2 + years experience with Amazon Web Services, Google or other cloud providers
