Job Description

FUNCTION: 

Reporting to the Manager, CX Systems Development, this position will be part of an agile development team, taking part in web initiatives from conception to post production. The Web Developer plays a key role in Porter’s business development by developing and supporting web technology initiatives.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write, debug, deploy and document code for all of Porter’s customer facing web applications
  • Write technically challenging code that interfaces with numerous internal and 3rd party systems
  • Program large-scale, high-volume websites in a load-balanced or web farm/cloud environment
  • Program multilingual websites, including using techniques to Search Engine Optimize (SEO) pages in both languages
  • Maintain and support multiple projects and deadlines
  • Be responsible for the reliability and maintenance of customer facing web applications, including after-hours support
  • Propose solutions to problems and consider timeliness, effectiveness and practicality in addressing client needs
  • Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
  • Any other duties as requested by the Manager, CX Systems Development

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering
  • Minimum 3-5 years of software development experience
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with multiple deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and accept direction
  • Clearly articulate ideas and thoughts verbally
  • Familiarity with unit testing principles and unit testing tools
  • Aviation industry experience would be considered an asset

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • 2+ years building ASP.NET MVC web applications using C#, Microsoft .NET 4.6+, Visual Studio 2019
  • 2 + years’ experience building standards compliant (W3C WCAG 2.0) web user interface with HTML, CSS, LESS, grunt, JavaScript, jQuery, Knockout.js and bootstrap
  • 2+ years’ experience with SOAP and REST API web services
  • Knowledge of database design in SQL Server 2019, SQL/T-SQL , database indexing, views and stored procedures
  • Experience using core Microsoft .Net technologies including: WCF, WPF, WF,LINQ and EF

NICE TO HAVE:
  • Experience in Agile SCRUM methodology
  • Experience creating websites that adhere to WCAG 2.0 Level AA guidelines preferred
  • Experience with front end UI/UX design preferred
  • Experience in objective C and mobile app development on the iOS and Android platforms is considered an asset
  • Experience with distributed source control tools such as Git, Mercurial, etc. 
  • Familiarity with project management and bug-tracking software such as JIRA, Bugzilla etc.
  • Knowledge of AngularJS Framework is an asset
  • Some ability in Photoshop/GIMP
