Job Details

FUNCTION: Reporting to the EVP & CFO, the Director, Finance is responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 20 finance personnel with four direct reporting managers.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs all aspects of Finance and accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, corporate accounting, financial planning, taxation and treasury
  • Leads finance team, setting annual goals and cross-training of team members as required, ensuring departmental goals align with overall corporate goals and strategies
  • Reviews monthly board reports, and quarterly and annual financial statements prior to distribution to the Senior Leadership Team (“SLT”) and the Board of Directors
  • Oversees all Company audits, including financial statement, HST, ATSC, US taxes and airport and audits
  • Monitors cash flow and projected working capital requirements, working with lenders and merchant processors to preserve appropriate level of liquidity for operations
  • Provides SLT with reporting and guidance on financials to enable the execution of strategy and decision making
  • Oversees annual Operating and Capital budgets for SLT approval
  • Presents recommendations on issue resolution, tax planning, and other financial issues, as required
  • Establishes and implements accounting procedures and policies, ensuring that the Company is compliant with all new and existing IFRS guidance
  • Acts as a technical expert for the Company, partnering with operational managers to provide guidance and decisions on accounting treatment for various issues
  • Develops, implements and ensures compliance with internal controls over financial reporting and cash disbursements
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with operational managers, directors and the SLT to support and achieve organizational goals
  • Actively participates in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CPA designation required
  • Big four experience combined with industry experience an asset
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting, reporting, and managerial/leadership experience
  • Demonstrated  track record of proven financial acumen and leadership that demonstrates ability to work with senior leadership to gain insight into how to improve the organization’s operational and financial performance
  • Proven project management and organizational skills to execute time-sensitive deliverables and effectively manage several projects simultaneously
  • Strong team player with demonstrated leadership skills and ability to drive change
