Job Description

FUNCTION: Reporting to the Manager, Customer Experience Systems Development, this position will be part of an agile development team, taking part in mobile initiatives from conception to post-production. The Xamarin Developer plays a key role in Porter’s business development by developing and supporting mobile technology initiatives. This exciting role provides the opportunity to be an integral part of the inception of a brand-new mobile app, that seeks to provide a smooth and seamless experience to Porter customers and enhance Porter's "Flying Refined" brand.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write, debug, deploy and document mobile app code
  • Write technically challenging code that interfaces with numerous internal and 3rd party systems
  • Play an integral part in ensuring the overall reliability of our customer-facing mobile applications, including occasional after-hours support if needed
  • Work with various teams including UX design, quality assurance and back-end software development teams
  • Maintain and support multiple projects and deadlines
  • Propose solutions to problems and consider timeliness, effectiveness, and practicality in addressing client needs
  • Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
  • Any other duties as requested by the Manager, Customer Experience Systems Development

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and accept direction
  • Clearly articulate ideas and thoughts verbally
  • Aviation industry experience would be considered an asset

TECHNICAL SKILLS: 

  • 3+ years of experience working with Xamarin Forms 3.0+ developing both Android and iOS apps in Visual Studio 2017+
  • 3+ years of experience working with C#, XAML
  • Experience creating/using Asp.Net Web API
  • Experience writing/consuming REST web services
  • Experience working in SCRUM framework
  • Experience with all work/requirements tied to releasing mobile applications on AppStore and GooglePlay
  • Experience integrating ready-made UI kits/templates
  • Knowledgeable in mobile app performance optimization
  • Experience working with UI/UX designers/developers
  • Ability to showcase at least one application made for Android/iOS
  • Knowledge of database design
  • Experience with ORM frameworks such as Entity Framework
  • Familiarity with unit testing principles and unit testing tools

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience developing business apps for mobile devices
  • Experience with mobile app testing
  • Experience creating websites that adhere to WCAG 2.0 Level AA guidelines preferred
  • Experience with distributed source control tools such as Git, Mercurial, etc. 
  • Familiarity with project management and bug-tracking software such as JIRA
  • Knowledge of .NET Core is an asset
