Intermediate Data Integration Specialist

FUNCTION: 

Do you like collecting and transforming billions of records of data from systems and applications?  

Have you built data integration processes to support business intelligence & analytical applications?

This position will play a key contributor and promoter of developing and expanding the use of data across Porter. To better serve our customers and our operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Develop and maintain ETL and data integration processes between internal and external systems 

• Expand and enhance the data areas in the data warehouse

• Responsible for analyzing and improving data quality and integrity in the data warehouse

• Work with business groups to define and document requirements for data projects

• Provide guidance and assistance to business and technology groups on their data needs

• Maintain and support multiple projects, working with the Technology teams, project managers, business groups

• Document data processes for corporate initiatives and projects

• Provide support for data processes after hours and weekends, when needed

• Actively participate in Porter Safety Management System(SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote The Company Safety Policy

• Any other duties as requested by the Director

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or similar degree preferred

• Excellent knowledge of database design, data warehouse methodologies and data techniques 

• Minimum of 5 years of experience developing data integration/ETL solutions

• Minimum of 5 years of experience designing and developing big data and data warehouse solutions

• Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills 

• Excellent SQL experience with multiple  database systems including SQL Server, MySQL,  Redshift or similar

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to communicate with business stakeholders, project teams and project managers

• Experience with various SDLC methodologies and requirements gathering

• Experience in the travel or airline industry is an asset

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• 5 + years of experience developing and maintaining data integration (ETL) processes using tools such as Microsoft SSIS, Pentaho, or Matillion

• 3 + years of experience using open source programming languages such as Python or Java

• Experience using Google Sheets

• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) products and services, especially Redshift, Kinesis, Lambda, EMR, or RDS

• Experience working with big data technologies and tools such as Hadoop or Spark
