Job Details

Porter Airlines set a new standard with a flying refined brand promise bringing dignity and ease to travel, with an elevated, high-value experience.  Recently, Porter announced an expansion of its network across North America acquiring up to 80 new Embraer E195 – E2.  This growth plan will make Porter a national airline and create incredible opportunities for team members to expand skill sets, work on new projects, and experience our vast network of destinations.

FUNCTION: Reporting to Manager, Accounting & Financial Reporting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Record bank transactions in Microsoft GP daily to ensure balances tie with our financial systems

  • Reconcile bank statements to MS Dynamics on a monthly basis

  • Reconcile station cash balances on a quarterly basis

  • Process fuel invoices for payment on a daily basis, including filing multiple state/province excise Tax

  • Prepare monthly HST returns for several entities and complete associated monthly reconciliations

  • Reconcile debit card machine transactions for multiple stations monthly

  • Prepare bank deposits as required

  • Coordinate the travel agency commissions payable process – compile commission payments and prepare monthly payment runs and associated reconciliations

  • Prepare standard and accrual journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis, as required

  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors in Commerce (Finance or Accounting Specialization)

  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to review processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, with a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with MS Dynamics (Great Plains) an asset

  • Strong communications skills; ability to communicate clearly and precisely in English

  • Detail and results oriented and strong organizational skills

  • Strong self-starter who seeks continuous process improvement and likes to drive change

  • Ability to work with strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Flexible and willing to do any and all tasks within the finance group, as requested and required

  • Travel / aviation industry experience an asset

  • Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination
