Job Description

FUNCTION: Reporting to the Manager, Customer Experience Systems Development, this position will be part of an agile development team, taking part in web initiatives from conception to post-production. The Web Developer plays a key role in Porter’s business development by developing and supporting web technology initiatives.  

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write, debug, deploy and document code for flyporter.com and other customer-facing applications
  • Write technically challenging code that interfaces with numerous internal and 3rd party systems
  • Play an integral part in ensuring the overall reliability of our customer-facing web applications, including occasional after-hours support if needed, to provide a smooth and seamless experience for Porter customers
  • Program multi-lingual websites, including using techniques to Search Engine Optimize (SEO) pages in both languages
  • Maintain and support multiple projects and deadlines
  • Propose solutions to problems and consider timeliness, effectiveness, and practicality in addressing client needs
  • Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
  • Any other duties as requested by the Manager, Customer Experience Systems Development

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and accept direction
  • Clearly articulate ideas and thoughts verbally
  • Aviation industry experience would be considered an asset

TECHNICAL SKILLS: 

  • Experience building ASP.NET MVC  web applications using C#, , Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5+ and Visual Studio 2017+
  • Experience building standards compliant (W3C WCAG 2.0) web user interfaces with HTML, CSS, LESS, Grunt, JavaScript, jQuery, Knockout.js and Bootstrap
  • Experience consuming SOAP and REST API web services
  • Knowledge of database design in SQL Server 2015, SQL/T-SQL, database indexing, views and stored procedures
  • Experience with ORM frameworks such as Entity Framework
  • Familiarity with unit testing principles and unit testing tools

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience creating websites that adhere to WCAG 2.0 Level AA guidelines preferred
  • Experience with front-end UI/UX design preferred
  • Experience in mobile app development on the iOS and Android platforms will be considered an asset
  • Experience with distributed source control tools such as Git, Mercurial, etc. 
  • Familiarity with project management and bug-tracking software such as JIRA
  • Knowledge of AngularJS Framework would be an asset
  • Knowledge of .NET Core is an asset
